Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven emirates rather than an island, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest range of hotel, tourism, construction, engineering, retail and technology jobs. Its culture combines Islamic traditions with a highly international population; modest dress and respect for local customs are expected, especially during Ramadan. The lifestyle is modern and convenient, with excellent transport, shopping, restaurants and beaches, although summer temperatures are extremely high and living costs can be substantial. Most foreign employees need an employment visa and residence permit sponsored by their employer; the company normally arranges medical testing, Emirates ID processing and work authorization. Confirm the contract, accommodation, transport, insurance and annual leave before relocating. Bring attested qualifications where required, and budget carefully for housing if it is not provided. Dubai Investment Park is a practical location with access to business districts and residential communities.
