Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, retail, technology, education and creative services. Kuala Lumpur is a major employment hub, while island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman and parts of Sabah attract resort, diving and tourism workers. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, and English is widely used in hotels and business settings. City life is convenient and energetic, while island living is slower, outdoor-focused and more seasonal. Rent and transport costs are generally lower than in many international cities, although Kuala Lumpur and popular resorts can be expensive. Foreign nationals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval handled through the company and Malaysian authorities before starting work. Candidates should confirm visa eligibility, contract terms, medical coverage, accommodation and relocation support directly with the employer.
