Destination Guide

The Cayman Islands offer opportunities in tourism, hospitality, food and beverage, finance, retail, healthcare, construction, marine services, and professional industries. Grand Cayman is the main employment center and has a polished, international culture shaped by Caribbean traditions and expatriate communities. Lifestyle highlights include beaches, diving, boating, warm weather, and a relaxed outdoor atmosphere, although housing, groceries, transportation, and dining can be expensive. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored work permit before starting employment; approval depends on the role, employer, qualifications, and local labor requirements. Employers may provide accommodation, relocation assistance, meals, transportation, health insurance, or flights, but these benefits should be confirmed in writing. New arrivals should arrange proper immigration documentation, suitable housing, and a local bank account, and should understand that work permits are normally tied to the sponsoring employer.
