Destination Guide

Bali is Indonesia’s best-known island for hospitality careers, with opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, wellness, events, tourism and guest services, especially around Seminyak, Canggu, Nusa Dua, Ubud and Denpasar. The culture blends Hindu traditions, temple ceremonies, arts, music and strong community values. Lifestyle options range from beaches and surfing to wellness, cafés and nightlife, although traffic, seasonal tourism and rising rents can be challenging. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and an appropriate Indonesian work visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers usually guide successful candidates through immigration and employment documentation. Relocation involves arranging accommodation, health insurance, banking, transport and local registration. Indonesian language skills are useful, while English is commonly required in international resorts. Salaries should be assessed alongside service charge, meals, accommodation, transport and other benefits.
