Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but Abu Dhabi is an island city connected to the mainland by bridges. It offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation, construction, healthcare and technology. The culture combines Emirati traditions, Islamic values and a large international expatriate community. Respectful dress, privacy, religious customs and public behavior are important. Lifestyle is modern, safe and convenient, with shopping malls, beaches, restaurants, cultural attractions and excellent transport, although summers are extremely hot. Employers normally arrange an employment visa, work permit, medical screening and Emirates ID after hiring; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocation packages may include accommodation, transport, meals, insurance and annual flights, but these benefits should be confirmed in writing. Employees should budget carefully for personal expenses and verify contract terms, recruitment fees and probation conditions before travel.
