Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers strong hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail and events employment opportunities, especially in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international workforce; respectful dress, punctuality and awareness of Islamic customs are important. Lifestyle is modern and convenient, with excellent shopping, dining, beaches and public transport, although summer heat can be intense and living costs vary considerably. Most overseas employees need employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Hotels commonly assist with visa processing, medical checks, Emirates ID applications, accommodation or housing allowance, transport and health insurance. Before relocating, confirm salary, service charge, working hours, accommodation, annual leave, airfare and probation terms in writing. Abu Dhabi is generally quieter than Dubai and well suited to professionals seeking a structured hospitality environment.
