Destination Guide

Australia is a large island country with opportunities in hospitality, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, construction, technology and professional services. Port Douglas offers a relaxed tropical lifestyle, outdoor activities and access to the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree, although housing and transport can be limited and seasonal work patterns are common. Australian workplaces generally value punctuality, teamwork, safety, direct communication and responsible service. International applicants need the right visa, such as a Working Holiday visa, employer-sponsored visa or another work-authorised visa; conditions and age limits vary by nationality. Before relocating, check work rights, tax-file-number requirements, health insurance, accommodation costs and whether responsible service of alcohol certification is needed. Cairns is the nearest major regional centre and airport, while public transport around Port Douglas is more limited than in major cities.
