Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology, and healthcare. Kuching is on Borneo island and is known for its relaxed lifestyle, affordable living costs, multicultural community, and access to rainforests and coastal areas. Malaysian culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences, with festivals, markets, and diverse food traditions. Major cities provide more career options, while resort destinations offer hospitality work and a slower pace of life. Employees should budget for accommodation, transport, utilities, and health insurance; staff housing or meals may depend on the employer. Foreign workers normally need an employment pass or work permit arranged and sponsored by the hiring company before starting work. Requirements vary by nationality and position, so applicants should confirm current rules with Marriott, Malaysian immigration, and the nearest Malaysian embassy. Relocation planning should include document verification, medical checks, and sufficient savings for the first months.
