Destination Guide

Taiwan offers strong opportunities in hospitality, technology, manufacturing, education, healthcare, and international business, with Taipei and New Taipei City providing the widest employment choices. Taiwanese culture values politeness, punctuality, family, community, and respect for seniority, while food markets, temples, festivals, and outdoor activities are central to daily life. The lifestyle is convenient, with reliable public transport, affordable food, modern healthcare, and easy access to mountains, beaches, and hot springs. Mandarin is widely used, although hotels often value English and other language skills. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work permit and an appropriate resident visa or Alien Resident Certificate; requirements depend on nationality, qualifications, and contract terms. Before relocating, confirm sponsorship, accommodation, insurance, tax treatment, working hours, and benefits with the employer. Taipei-area living costs are moderate by global-city standards, though housing varies significantly by neighborhood.
