Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai offering particularly strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation and events. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international lifestyle; respect for local customs, modest public behavior and awareness of Islamic holidays are important. Dubai offers modern housing, shopping, beaches, entertainment and efficient transport, although rent and summer heat can be challenging. Most overseas employees require an employer-sponsored residence visa and work permit. Employers commonly arrange visa processing and may provide accommodation, meals, transport, health insurance and flights, depending on the contract. Candidates should verify salary, working hours, probation, benefits and recruitment fees before accepting an offer. Relocating employees normally need a passport, medical examination and document attestation, while dependents require separate sponsorship arrangements.
