Destination Guide

Thailand offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, diving, wellness, retail, and digital work. Major island destinations include Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Koh Chang, and Koh Lanta. Phuket and Samui have the broadest hospitality job markets, while Koh Tao is particularly associated with diving and Koh Phangan with wellness, events, and seasonal tourism. Life is generally warm, social, and outdoor-focused, with beaches, markets, temples, and affordable local food. Costs vary: Phuket and Samui are pricier than smaller islands, especially during high season. Thai culture values politeness, respect, modest dress at temples, and maintaining a calm manner. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate work visa and work permit arranged with employer support; tourist status does not authorize employment. Check current Thai immigration rules before relocating, and budget for housing, health insurance, transport, and seasonal income changes.
