Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality, tourism, retail, technology and business opportunities, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Kuala Lumpur is a multicultural city with Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences, excellent food, modern malls and convenient public transport. The lifestyle is generally affordable compared with many major global cities, although central housing can be expensive. Malaysia is not one island but a country spanning the Malay Peninsula and Borneo, with numerous islands and coastal destinations. International interns usually need the appropriate internship, training or employment pass arranged with the sponsoring organization; requirements vary by nationality and program, so confirmation with Marriott and Malaysian immigration is essential. Relocation costs, accommodation, insurance, transport and visa fees should be checked before accepting an offer. English is widely used in hotels, while Malay is the national language.
