Destination Guide

Qatar is a peninsula rather than an island, with Doha as its main employment and lifestyle hub. Hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare and business services offer many opportunities, particularly for candidates with international experience. Qatari culture values hospitality, family, modest dress and respect for Islamic customs; Arabic is the official language, while English is widely used at work. Doha offers modern malls, beaches, museums, restaurants and desert activities, although summers are extremely hot. Employers commonly sponsor work visas, arrange medical checks and provide a residence permit after hiring. Many hotel packages include accommodation or an allowance, transport, meals and annual airfare, but this must be confirmed in writing. Bring authenticated qualifications where required and check contract terms, probation, leave, insurance and accommodation before relocating.
