Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago with varied opportunities across Java, Bali, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and other islands. Jakarta, on Java, offers the broadest hotel, restaurant, events, finance, and corporate employment market, while Bali is especially strong in resorts, tourism, wellness, and food and beverage. Indonesian workplaces value politeness, teamwork, respect for seniority, and relationship-building. Lifestyle costs vary: Jakarta is busy and urban, Bali is more tourism-focused, and smaller islands offer a slower pace but fewer international jobs. Salaries are usually paid in Indonesian rupiah, with hotels sometimes adding service charge, meals, transport, insurance, or accommodation. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored work authorization and KITAS; working on a tourist visa is prohibited. Relocating requires a valid passport, employment contract, approved immigration documents, local registration, and suitable health coverage. Learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly recommended.
