Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities across hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, retail, technology, education, and international business. Jakarta, on Java, is the country’s main corporate center and provides the broadest range of professional jobs, though traffic and urban living costs can be significant. Bali is popular for resort, restaurant, wellness, and tourism careers, while Lombok and destinations in eastern Indonesia offer growing opportunities but fewer services. Indonesian culture emphasizes courtesy, community, religious diversity, and respectful communication; modest dress and sensitivity to local customs are important. Lifestyle ranges from energetic city living to relaxed coastal communities, with excellent food and varied outdoor activities. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work visa and the appropriate limited-stay permit before working. Employers commonly assist with immigration, but requirements and fees should be confirmed with Indonesian authorities. Relocating employees should budget for housing, transport, insurance, and document processing.
