Destination Guide

Phuket is Thailand’s largest island and a major international tourism hub, offering opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, travel companies, events, diving, wellness and retail. The lifestyle combines busy tourism operations with relaxed beaches, outdoor activities, excellent food and a multicultural expatriate community. Thai culture values politeness, respect, modesty and relationship-building; learning basic Thai is helpful. Popular areas include Mai Khao and Bang Tao for resort living, Phuket Town for culture and dining, and Patong for nightlife. Foreign employees generally need a Thai Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit, normally arranged with employer support before or after arrival. Applicants should confirm requirements with the Thai embassy and employer, as regulations change. Relocation costs, housing, transport and healthcare should be discussed during hiring. Phuket has an international airport, private hospitals and established expatriate services, although traffic and seasonal weather can affect daily life.
