Destination Guide

Taiwan offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, technology, education, and international businesses, with Taipei and New Taipei providing the widest choice of jobs. The culture blends Chinese traditions, Indigenous heritage, Japanese influence, and modern urban life. People generally value politeness, reliability, family, and respectful workplace relationships. Taiwan is known for excellent food, night markets, convenient public transport, affordable healthcare, mountains, beaches, and a relatively safe lifestyle. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work permit before starting employment; visa and residence requirements depend on nationality, salary, qualifications, and job type. A valid passport, employment contract, health examination, and supporting documents may be required. Mandarin is useful for daily life, although international hotels often use English. Rent is highest in Taipei, while Banqiao offers convenient transport and somewhat broader housing choices. New arrivals should arrange legal work authorization, accommodation, insurance, and local registration.
