Destination Guide

Thailand’s islands, including Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Krabi’s islands and Koh Chang, offer opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism sales, diving, wellness, events and guest services. Phuket has the broadest employment market, while smaller islands offer a more relaxed lifestyle but fewer year-round positions. Local culture values politeness, respect for elders, modest behavior and maintaining a calm manner. Island life generally includes warm weather, beaches, outdoor activities and a strong hospitality community, although rainy seasons, traffic and seasonal employment can affect daily life. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and a Thai work permit before legally working; requirements depend on nationality and role. Employers may assist with sponsorship, but candidates should confirm terms, accommodation, insurance, taxes and permit responsibilities before relocating. International schools, healthcare access and living costs vary considerably by island.
