Deputy Manager - Nurse Qualified

United Kingdom Akari Care Limited £25.01 an hour*
Job Description

The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager in leading a residential or nursing care home, maintaining high standards of clinical care, safeguarding, medication management, documentation and regulatory compliance. Applicants are expected to be a UK-registered nurse with a valid NMC registration, relevant nursing-home or elderly-care experience, and a sound understanding of person-centred care. Leadership, supervision, communication and organisational skills are essential, together with the ability to work flexibly across shifts, including weekends and occasional nights. The successful candidate should be compassionate, dependable and confident supporting residents, families and colleagues while helping manage staffing, audits, care planning and day-to-day operations.

Company Info

Akari Care Limited is a UK care-home operator providing residential, nursing and dementia care for older people. Its homes aim to offer safe, respectful and person-centred support, helping residents maintain dignity, independence and quality of life. The company employs nurses, care assistants, hospitality staff, administrators and operational managers across its homes. Deputy Managers help translate company standards into daily practice by supporting clinical leadership, coaching teams, monitoring care quality and working closely with residents and their families. As with other regulated UK care providers, Akari Care operates within requirements set by the Care Quality Commission in England and equivalent regulators in other nations. Roles may involve busy environments, staffing coordination and accountability for safe care, but they can provide meaningful progression for nurses interested in senior clinical and operational leadership.

Destination Guide

The United Kingdom offers employment opportunities in nursing, social care, healthcare management, technology, engineering, education and hospitality. Its culture combines historic traditions with diverse communities, regional identities and a strong emphasis on professional standards. Lifestyle varies considerably: London and other major cities are energetic but expensive, while smaller towns and rural areas generally offer lower housing costs and easier access to countryside and coast. Nurses normally need NMC registration and may qualify for a Health and Care Worker visa if they have an eligible sponsored role with an approved employer. Other positions may require a Skilled Worker visa; dependants, salary thresholds and sponsorship rules should be checked before applying. Relocating involves arranging accommodation, a National Insurance number, banking, taxation and healthcare access. Weather is changeable, and public transport is strongest in larger cities. The UK also provides a broad international professional network and recognised career-development opportunities.
