Destination Guide

Mauritius offers opportunities in financial services, accounting and audit, technology, cybersecurity, business-process outsourcing, hospitality, healthcare, education, logistics and renewable energy. English is widely used in business, while French and Mauritian Creole are common in daily life. The island has a multicultural society, friendly communities, tropical beaches, mountain landscapes and a relaxed but increasingly modern lifestyle. Port Louis and Ebene are key business centers, with many professionals living in surrounding towns. Living costs vary, and accommodation near major commercial areas can be relatively expensive. Foreign nationals normally need the appropriate work permit, occupation permit or residence authorization before taking employment; the employer often supports the application. Candidates should confirm current immigration rules, medical requirements and document procedures with Mauritian authorities or EY. Mauritius has good private healthcare, reliable connectivity and direct regional travel, although public transport and traffic should be considered when choosing accommodation.
