Destination Guide

Mauritius offers opportunities in logistics, finance, tourism, information technology, business services, manufacturing, and international trade. The island has a multicultural society influenced by African, Indian, European, and Chinese heritage, with English commonly used in business and French and Creole widely spoken socially. Lifestyle is generally relaxed, with warm weather, beaches, hiking, water sports, and a growing restaurant and cultural scene. Costs vary considerably: accommodation near major business areas and coastal locations can be expensive, while local transport and food may be more affordable. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate work permit, occupation permit, or residence permit before working; employers often assist with applications. Candidates should confirm current rules with Mauritius authorities or DHL before relocating. Port Louis and Ebene are key employment centres, and reliable transport planning is important because commuting can be slow during peak hours.
