Destination Guide

Ireland offers strong opportunities in banking, financial services, technology, pharmaceuticals, professional services, and multinational operations. Dublin is the main employment centre and hosts many international banks, asset managers, fintech firms, and corporate headquarters. Irish workplaces are generally collaborative, informal, and multicultural, although financial roles can involve structured controls, busy periods, and hybrid working. The lifestyle combines urban amenities with easy access to coastal towns, countryside, music, and sport. Housing, particularly in Dublin, is expensive and competitive, so securing accommodation should be planned carefully. EU, EEA, and Swiss nationals can work without an employment permit. Most other nationals need an appropriate work permit, commonly a Critical Skills Employment Permit where the role and salary qualify, or a General Employment Permit. Relocating also involves arranging immigration registration, tax details, banking, health insurance considerations, and transport. Cork, Galway, Limerick, and Waterford may offer lower-cost alternatives with growing professional sectors.
