Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest concentration of banking, compliance and technology opportunities. The country has a multicultural, modern lifestyle, excellent transport links, high-quality services and extensive shopping, dining and leisure options. Arabic is the official language, while English is widely used in business. Islamic traditions shape public holidays, working practices and social etiquette, so visitors and new residents should dress respectfully and observe local laws. Most foreign employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas; UAE Nationals do not need employment sponsorship, although standard employment and identification procedures still apply. Relocation costs can be significant, particularly housing and school fees, but salaries are generally tax-free from a UAE personal-income-tax perspective. Dubai offers a lively international atmosphere, while Abu Dhabi is often quieter and more family-oriented.
