Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in banking, shared services, technology, manufacturing, logistics, tourism, and digital businesses, with Kuala Lumpur and nearby Selangor serving as the main professional hubs. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals, languages, and daily life. Living costs are moderate compared with many global financial centres, although central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Public transport is convenient in the capital, while cars are more useful outside major cities. Malaysia is not one island: it includes the peninsula and East Malaysia on Borneo, plus destinations such as Penang, Langkawi, and Tioman. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with approval handled through Malaysian authorities. Relocating usually involves an employment contract, passport, medical or immigration documentation, and arranging housing and local banking after arrival.
