Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in banking, fund administration, technology, shared services, engineering, healthcare, tourism and multinational operations. Kuala Lumpur is the main financial and corporate centre, with modern transport, international schools, shopping and a wide range of affordable food. The culture is multicultural, shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions; English is widely used in business. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in Singapore, although central housing and international education can be expensive. Malaysia also provides easy access to islands and coastal destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Redang and the Perhentian Islands, offering beaches, diving and relaxed weekends. Foreign professionals normally require employer-sponsored permission, such as an Employment Pass, before starting work. Employers usually handle the application, while candidates should verify passport, qualification, medical and dependent requirements. Research housing, schooling, healthcare, taxation and commuting before relocating.
