Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in banking, shared services, technology, engineering, tourism, and healthcare, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, and Sabah and Sarawak. Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest professional market, modern transport, international schools, shopping, and varied dining, while Penang combines technology and manufacturing jobs with a relaxed island lifestyle. Langkawi and other islands are popular for beaches and recreation, although employment is more concentrated in tourism. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indigenous influences; English is widely used in business. Living costs are moderate compared with many global financial centers, though central Kuala Lumpur housing is more expensive. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, and qualifications and salary must meet immigration requirements. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, medical coverage, banking access, and document verification before relocating.
