Destination Guide

The Philippines offers job opportunities in banking, shared services, information technology, customer support, finance, healthcare, tourism, and business-process operations. Metro Manila, particularly Taguig, Makati, and Quezon City, has the largest concentration of corporate employers and international banks. Filipino culture is generally warm, family-oriented, community-minded, and influenced by Spanish, American, and Southeast Asian traditions. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living and extensive shopping and dining to relaxed coastal and island life. English is widely used in workplaces. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment visa, commonly sponsored by the hiring company, before starting work; requirements can include an approved work permit and immigration registration. Relocating employees should budget for housing, transport, healthcare, and humid tropical weather. Domestic flights and ferries make destinations such as Cebu, Palawan, Boracay, and Siargao accessible for holidays.
