Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in commercial banking, wealth management, fintech, insurance, accounting, technology, logistics and professional services. The city has a fast-paced, international business culture, with English widely used in offices and Cantonese dominant in daily life; Mandarin is also valuable. Housing is expensive, but public transport is exceptionally efficient, and neighbourhoods range from dense urban districts to quieter areas with beaches and hiking trails. Eligible professionals normally need an employment visa, commonly through the General Employment Policy, sponsored by the hiring company and supported by qualifications, experience and a confirmed job offer. Dependants may usually accompany approved visa holders. Before relocating, candidates should budget for deposits, rent, healthcare, transport and schooling if applicable. Hong Kong suits people who enjoy compact city living, diverse food, long working hours in some sectors and easy access to wider Asia.
