Destination Guide

Thailand offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tour companies, diving, wellness, events and sales, especially in Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi and Pattaya. Island life is generally warm, social and outdoor-focused, with beaches, markets, temples, seafood and a relaxed pace. Thai culture values politeness, respect for elders, modest dress at religious sites and the traditional greeting known as the wai. Living costs vary: Bangkok and Phuket are more expensive, while smaller islands may be cheaper but have fewer services and jobs. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit before starting employment; requirements depend on nationality and position. Employers often assist with documentation, but candidates should confirm current rules with Thai authorities. Transport, healthcare and internet are good in tourist centres, although seasonal work and monsoon conditions can affect island employment.
