Destination Guide

Qatar is a peninsula rather than an island, with Doha as its main business and employment center. Hospitality opportunities are available in luxury hotels, restaurants, spas, resorts, events and tourism, particularly for candidates with international experience and strong English skills. Qatar offers a modern, safe lifestyle, excellent shopping, beaches, museums and desert activities, while local culture values Islamic traditions, modest dress and respectful behavior. Summers are extremely hot, so indoor facilities and air-conditioned transport are important. Employers normally arrange a work visa and residence permit, often covering medical checks, flights, accommodation or an allowance, meals and transport; benefits vary by contract. Before relocating, confirm salary, service charge, working hours, overtime, accommodation, annual leave, medical insurance and return-flight terms. Do not work on a tourist visa, and ensure your passport and qualifications meet employer requirements.
