The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers a highly international lifestyle across seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi providing the largest hospitality job markets. Opportunities are common in hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, retail, aviation and business services. The culture combines Emirati traditions, Islamic customs and a diverse expatriate community; respectful dress and behaviour are expected, especially during Ramadan. Lifestyle options include beaches, desert excursions, shopping, dining and a busy events calendar, although summer temperatures are extremely hot. Most foreign employees require an employer-sponsored work and residence visa, normally arranged after receiving a formal offer. Employers may also provide medical insurance, flights, accommodation or a housing allowance, depending on the contract. Candidates should verify salary, working hours, probation, benefits and visa conditions before relocating. Dubai has modern infrastructure, but living costs, particularly rent and schooling, can be high.
