Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai offering particularly strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, events, retail, aviation, finance and technology. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a large international community; modest dress in public places, respect for Islamic customs and awareness of local laws are important. Dubai provides modern housing, extensive public transport, beaches, desert activities, restaurants and shopping, although rent and daily expenses can be high. Most foreign employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Employers commonly arrange the work permit, medical examination, Emirates ID and residency processing, while requirements vary by nationality and contract. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation or housing allowance, transport, insurance, annual leave, airfare and probation terms before relocating. Summer is extremely hot, so air-conditioned workplaces and indoor recreation are central to everyday life.
