Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, modern island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and education. Hotels and restaurants regularly recruit international workers, although eligible employers must sponsor the appropriate work pass. Professionals commonly use Employment Passes or S Passes, subject to government salary, qualification and employer criteria; approval is not automatic, so secure a job offer before relocating. Singapore is multicultural, safe and highly organised, with English widely used in workplaces and public services. Life is convenient, but accommodation and childcare can be expensive. Public transport is excellent, and neighbourhoods range from central high-rises to quieter suburban areas. The climate is hot, humid and rainy throughout the year. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, insurance and transport, verify employment terms carefully, and check current Ministry of Manpower requirements. Respect for local laws, cleanliness and social etiquette is important, while food markets, cultural districts, parks and nearby islands provide plenty to explore.
