Destination Guide

Australia offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, events, tourism, aged care, construction, healthcare and technology, with Sydney providing especially broad hospitality employment. Australian workplace culture is generally professional, direct and team-oriented, with emphasis on punctuality, safety, equality and customer service. Sydney offers beaches, a multicultural food scene, public transport, outdoor activities and a busy urban lifestyle, although rent and living costs are high. International applicants usually need a visa that permits employment, such as an employer-sponsored visa, Working Holiday visa or another eligible skilled or temporary visa; conditions vary by nationality and occupation, so consult the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Relocation normally involves securing the correct visa, obtaining tax and banking arrangements, arranging accommodation and budgeting for transport and healthcare. Airport-area suburbs can be convenient, but researching commuting costs and rental availability before arrival is advisable.
