Job Description

The Sous Chef supports the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations at Novotel Melbourne South Wharf. Responsibilities include supervising kitchen staff, coordinating food preparation and service, maintaining consistent quality and presentation, managing stock, controlling costs, and ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health requirements. Candidates are expected to have commercial kitchen experience, preferably in a hotel or high-volume hospitality environment, along with strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills. A relevant culinary qualification, sound knowledge of modern cooking techniques, and the ability to work calmly under pressure are advantageous. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays, is required.
