Destination Guide

Indonesia offers hospitality, tourism, facilities, retail and service-sector opportunities, especially in Jakarta, Bali, Batam, Lombok and major resort destinations. Jakarta is a busy metropolitan area with extensive employment options, public transport, shopping and international communities, although traffic and humidity can be challenging. Indonesian culture places importance on courtesy, family, community and respectful communication; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful. Living costs vary, with Jakarta generally more expensive than many regional cities. Foreign workers normally need employer sponsorship and the appropriate work and stay permits before beginning employment; requirements can change, so confirmation with the employer and Indonesian immigration authorities is essential. Accommodation, meals, transport or health insurance may sometimes be included in hotel packages. Relocating candidates should budget for housing, documents, medical checks and initial living expenses.
