Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected city and a major centre for hospitality, finance, retail, technology, events, and international business. Hotel and tourism opportunities are available in marketing, front office, food and beverage, sales, revenue management, events, and guest services, particularly with luxury international brands. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is commonly used in business and hotels. The lifestyle is energetic, urban, and multicultural, with excellent public transport, diverse dining, shopping, nightlife, hiking, beaches, and outlying islands. Housing can be expensive, so many newcomers share apartments or live in areas connected by the MTR. Overseas employees generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa, usually through the General Employment Policy, and must show a suitable job, qualifications, and relevant experience. Arrange accommodation, insurance, banking, and document verification before arrival.
