Destination Guide

Singapore is a modern island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, finance, technology, healthcare, and logistics. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences, reflected in its languages, festivals, neighbourhoods, and hawker cuisine. Life is safe, efficient, and convenient, with excellent public transport, healthcare, shopping, and dining. The climate is tropical, hot, and humid throughout the year, with frequent rain. Rent can be expensive, especially near central areas, so many newcomers share accommodation or live outside the city centre. Foreign employees generally need employer-sponsored permission, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to current salary and eligibility rules. Before relocating, confirm sponsorship, accommodation, insurance, tax, and employment conditions with Shangri-La and Singapore authorities.
