Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, wellness and events, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Island destinations provide a relaxed lifestyle, tropical beaches, outdoor activities and strong multicultural influences combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions. Living costs vary: resort islands may be more expensive for imported goods, while staff accommodation can reduce expenses. Malaysia is generally welcoming to international hospitality professionals, though employers normally must sponsor an Employment Pass before work begins. Applicants should confirm qualifications, contract terms, accommodation, transport, medical coverage and service-charge arrangements. English is widely used in hotels, while Malay is the national language. Relocating staff should arrange passport validity, authenticated documents, health checks and suitable insurance, and research monsoon seasons and transport connections before moving.
