Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, retail, technology, logistics and professional services. For an accountant, hotel groups, banks, property companies and multinational businesses provide a broad employment market. The culture is fast-paced, internationally minded and influenced by both Cantonese traditions and global business practices. Life is convenient, with excellent public transport, extensive dining, vibrant shopping districts and easy access to hiking trails, beaches and outlying islands. Housing can be expensive, particularly near Central and major business areas, so many residents choose districts with good MTR connections but lower rents. Overseas professionals normally need an employment visa arranged by an approved employer; eligibility depends on qualifications, experience and a confirmed job offer. New arrivals should budget for rent deposits, healthcare, transport and daily expenses, and check current immigration requirements before relocating.
