Life is safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, varied food, shopping and abundant urban parks. Housing and daily expenses, particularly rent, can be high, so employees should plan their budget carefully. Singapore has a tropical climate with year-round heat and humidity. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. The employer normally submits the application. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, banking, tax registration and medical coverage, and verify all immigration requirements with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower before relocating.
