Junior Sous Chef (Pastry)

Job Description

The Junior Sous Chef (Pastry) supports the Pastry Chef in preparing and presenting breads, pastries, desserts and other bakery products to Shangri-La’s quality standards. Requirements typically include formal culinary or pastry training, relevant hotel or restaurant experience, strong knowledge of baking methods, food safety and hygiene, and the ability to supervise junior colleagues. The successful candidate is expected to organize daily production, maintain consistent quality, control wastage, manage stock responsibly and follow recipes accurately. Creativity, attention to detail, teamwork, physical stamina and the ability to work flexible shifts, weekends and public holidays are important. Experience in a luxury hotel or high-volume pastry kitchen would be advantageous.
