Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, tourism, retail, technology and international business, with many roles concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, international influences, festivals, excellent food and a fast-paced professional environment. Lifestyle options range from dense urban neighbourhoods and shopping districts to beaches, country parks, hiking trails and nearby islands. Public transport is exceptionally efficient, although housing can be expensive and space is limited. Foreign professionals normally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer; the company must demonstrate a genuine position and acceptable salary, while applicants provide qualifications and experience. Dependants may usually apply to join approved visa holders. Relocating candidates should budget for deposits, healthcare, transport and accommodation, and check tax, visa and employment conditions before accepting an offer.
