Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in food, festivals and everyday life. The city is clean, safe, highly connected and efficient, with excellent public transport and many shopping, dining and entertainment options. Housing and dining can be expensive, especially in central areas, so budgeting is important. Foreigners generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; hospitality employees may qualify for an S Pass or Work Permit depending on salary, qualifications, nationality and current government rules. Employers normally submit the application. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, banking and tax registration. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and other languages can be valuable in guest-facing roles.
