Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, modern island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, logistics, retail, technology, finance and healthcare. Hotel jobs are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa and the airport area. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, with English widely used at work alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Public transport is efficient, and most residents live in high-rise apartments. Living costs are high, especially for rent, although transport and public services are reliable. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and the applicable Ministry of Manpower requirements. Employers usually explain the application process after an offer is accepted. New arrivals should budget for accommodation, healthcare, transport and a rental deposit, and confirm working hours, benefits and accommodation arrangements before relocating.
