Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, attractions, restaurants, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally respectful of punctuality, service standards and workplace hierarchy. Lifestyle is convenient, safe and active, with excellent public transport, varied food, shopping, parks and coastal attractions. Rent and daily expenses can be high, particularly in central areas, so budgeting is important. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. Before relocating, arrange suitable housing, review medical insurance, understand employment terms and confirm whether dependants require separate passes.
