Destination Guide

Penang is a Malaysian island known for George Town's UNESCO-listed heritage, excellent food, beaches and a relaxed but lively lifestyle. Hospitality provides many opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, tourism, retail and guest services, particularly around Batu Feringgi and George Town. Local culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences, with festivals, temples, mosques, markets and a strong street-food tradition. Living costs are generally lower than Kuala Lumpur, although beachfront accommodation can be more expensive. Public buses, e-hailing services and taxis are widely available; owning a vehicle can be useful for resort work. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an approved Malaysian Employment Pass before starting work. Employers commonly assist with immigration paperwork, but candidates should confirm accommodation, medical coverage, relocation benefits and pass eligibility before accepting an offer.
