Job Description

The Front Office Officer supports smooth guest arrivals, departures, reservations, billing enquiries and general hotel services. Responsibilities typically include welcoming guests, handling check-in and check-out, responding to requests, coordinating with housekeeping and other departments, maintaining accurate records and resolving concerns professionally. Candidates should have customer-service experience, strong communication skills, a well-groomed and courteous manner, and the ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays. Fluency in English and Cantonese is generally expected in Hong Kong, while Mandarin is an advantage. Familiarity with hotel systems, cash handling and international guest service is helpful. The role requires patience, attention to detail, teamwork and a genuine commitment to Shangri-La's service standards.

Company Info

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and known for Asian-inspired warmth, attentive service and high-quality properties worldwide. The group operates hotels, resorts and related hospitality businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other markets. Its Hong Kong properties serve international travellers, business guests and local customers, offering accommodation, restaurants, lounges, meeting facilities and leisure services. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on guest satisfaction, cultural understanding, professional development and personalized service. Employees commonly work in multicultural teams and follow structured operating standards, while still being encouraged to show care and initiative. Working for the group can provide valuable exposure to luxury hotel operations, international guests and career opportunities across different departments and destinations.

Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic destination combining a major international business centre with beaches, hiking trails, historic neighbourhoods and outlying islands such as Lantau, Lamma and Cheung Chau. Hospitality opportunities are available in luxury hotels, restaurants, clubs, events, tourism and airport services, with stronger prospects for candidates who speak English, Cantonese or Mandarin. The culture is fast-paced, professional and highly international, with excellent public transport, diverse food and convenient urban services. Accommodation can be expensive, so many employees share flats or live in districts outside Central. Foreign workers normally require an employer-sponsored employment visa, and the job must meet immigration requirements regarding qualifications, salary and genuine vacancy. Candidates should secure an offer before relocating and prepare documentation, medical or background information if requested. Hong Kong offers efficient transport and abundant amenities, but long working hours and high living costs should be considered.
