Destination Guide

The Philippines offers hospitality, finance, shared-services, tourism, and accounting opportunities, especially in Metro Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, and major resort destinations. Manila provides the broadest employment market and urban conveniences, while Cebu and resort islands offer a more relaxed lifestyle with strong tourism demand. Filipino culture is welcoming, family-oriented, and community-focused; English is widely used in workplaces. Living costs vary considerably, with resort areas and central Manila generally more expensive than provincial locations. New arrivals should expect tropical weather, seasonal typhoons, traffic in major cities, and a slower pace outside business centers. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate work visa or permit sponsored or supported by an employer; tourist status does not authorize employment. Employees should confirm visa requirements, accommodation, healthcare, taxes, and relocation assistance directly with Shangri-La before accepting an offer.
