Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic international city with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences; respect, punctuality and workplace efficiency are highly valued. Lifestyle options range from dense urban neighbourhoods, shopping and nightlife to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Public transport is extensive and reliable, although housing can be expensive, especially near central business districts. Overseas hires normally need an appropriate employment visa, commonly sponsored by the employer under the General Employment Policy, and must meet qualification and salary requirements. A valid passport, employment contract and supporting documents are typically required. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage and a local bank account, and learn basic Cantonese phrases. Hong Kong is generally convenient for relocation, but applicants should budget carefully for rent and daily expenses.
